 League Handbook

Section 1:

Welcome to The Clubhouse Cup

Welcome to The Clubhouse Cup at Whoop Your Axe. This is an 8-week, 8-course individual competition running from December 1st to January 25th. You'll test your skills on world-famous courses, compete for weekly cash prizes, and chase the ultimate title: The Clubhouse Cup Champion.

This handbook contains all the information you will need for the season, including the fees, format, rules, prize breakdowns, and registration. While competition is encouraged, the league's foundation is built on integrity, sportsmanship, and fun.

Section 2: Fees & Tournament Structure

2.1 Tournament Fees

  • One-Time Entry Fee: $150 per player. This fee covers your entry into the full 8-week tournament and funds the entire tournament prize pool.

  • Membership Card: Upon paying your entry fee (either in full or the first payment plan installment), you will be issued an official Clubhouse Cup Members Card.

  • League Booking Fee: $10 per hour. This is a special, discounted league rate (Non-league rate is $25/hour) that applies only to booking simulator time to play the official course of the week.

  • Member Discount: For any other non-league play, members will receive a $5/hour discount off the standard rate.

  • Requirement: You must present your Members Card at checkout to receive all discounted league and member rates. All simulator fees are paid to Whoop Your Axe at the time of your booked session.

2.2 Tournament Structure

This is an 8-week tournament where the winner is determined by a season-long points race.

  • Weeks 1–8: The Tournament (Dec 1 - Jan 25)

  • Players compete in 8 weekly 18-hole stroke play events on 8 different courses.

  • Players earn cash prizes for top finishes each week.

  • Players also earn Tournament Points based on their weekly ranking, as detailed in Section 2.3 below.

  • At the end of Week 8, the player with the most total accumulated Tournament Points will be crowned the Clubhouse Cup Champion and win the grand prize and trophy.

2.3 Tournament Points System (Weeks 1-8)

You earn points based on your net score finish each week during the 8-week tournament. These points accumulate to create the final standings, which determine the Clubhouse Cup Champion and the overall prize money winners. Points are awarded based on the final weekly net leaderboard (based on a 20-player field):

Finishing Position/Points Awarded

1st: 10, 2nd: 8, 3rd: 7, 4th: 6, 5th: 5

6th-10th: 3, 11th-15th: 2, 16th-20th: 1

  • Participation: All players who submit a valid, completed 18-hole score will receive points as outlined above. Players who do not play will be awarded 0.5 points per the "Missed Week" rule in Section 6.

  • Ties: Ties for a position will result in the points for those positions being combined and split evenly. (e.g., a 2-way tie for 1st place would split 1st and 2nd place points: (10 + 8) / 2 = 9 points each).

Section 3: Prize Breakdown & Payouts

Our prize model is built on transparency, with a generous 80/20 split of all entry fees.

  • 80% to Player Prize Pool: For every $150 entry fee, $120 is immediately allocated to the player prize pool.

  • 20% to League Operations: The remaining $30 covers software management, administrative costs, and the final championship trophy.

More players = Bigger prizes!

Example Based on a 20-Player Tournament:

  • Total Entry Fees: 20 Players x $150 = $3,000

  • Total Player Prize Pool (80%): $2,400

  • Total for League Operations (20%): $600

The $2,400 Player Prize Pool will be allocated as follows:

  • Total for Weekly Payouts (Weeks 1-8): $1,100

  • Total for Overall Championship Standings: $1,300

Sample Weekly Payout (Weeks 1–8)

Based on a $137.50 weekly purse ($1,100 / 8 weeks) and paying out the top 25% of a 20-player field (5 players).

Finishing Position/Payout

1st: $50, 2nd: $35, 3rd: $25, 4th: $15, 5th: $12.50,

Total: $137.50

Sample Overall Championship Payouts (End of Week 8)

Based on a $1,300 purse and paying out the Top 8 finishers from the final points list.

Final Points Rank/Payout (from Championship Pool)

1st (Cup Champion): $400 + Trophy

2nd: $250, 3rd: $175, 4th:$125, 5th: $100

6th: $90, 7th: $80, 8th: $80

Total: $1,300

Disclaimer: All prize amounts are illustrative examples. The final prize money will scale directly with the number of paid participants.

Section 4: Optional Weekly Skins Game

In addition to the main tournament, players can enter an optional weekly side game. This pot is 100% paid out to the winners.

  • Weekly Skins Game ($10 Buy-In): Participation is optional to play. However, if you choose to enter, the $10 fee covers entry into both the Gross ($5) and Net ($5) skins pots.

  • How it Works: A "skin" is won by having the sole lowest score on a hole for the week. If scores are tied, the pot for that skin carries over to the next hole.

  • Payouts: Skins winnings will be calculated after the league week closes and paid out the following week.

Section 5: Technology & How to Play

5.1 The Technology

  • Simulator: Uneekor EYE XO2, a professional-grade overhead launch monitor with three high-speed cameras providing 24 data points on every swing. You can use any golf ball you prefer.

  • Software (GSPro): We use GSPro, renowned for its 4K graphics, realistic ball physics, and a library of over 1,000 community-created courses.

  • League Management (Squabbit): This tournament will be managed using Squabbit, a powerful and free app for golf leagues. All players must download and use the app for scoring, handicaps, and leaderboards.

5.2 How to Play (GSPro & Squabbit)

Because Squabbit is a standalone app, it does not automatically sync with GSPro. This requires a simple, manual score-entry process.

  1. Download Squabbit: All players must download the free Squabbit app on their smartphone (available on iOS and Android).

  2. Join the League: Once you have the app, join our private league, "The Clubhouse Cup." Your league administrator will provide you with the join code.

  3. Play Your Round: Book your time at Whoop Your Axe (at the $10/hr league rate) and play your official 18-hole league round on the GSPro simulator.

  4. Record Your Score: After your round is complete, you must record your final, hole-by-hole score. Taking a clear picture of the final scorecard on the screen is the easiest method.

  5. Enter Your Score: Open the Squabbit app, find the current weekly event, and manually enter your hole-by-hole scores.

  6. Check the Leaderboard: Once your score is submitted, Squabbit will instantly calculate your net score, update your handicap, and place you on the live leaderboard for the week.

CRITICAL RULE: ONE SUBMISSION ONLY.

You may book the simulator and play the tournament course as many times as you like during the week (at the $10/hr league rate). However, only your first score SUBMITTED to Squabbit is final and will be counted. You cannot play again and resubmit a better score.

Section 6: Official Rules & Guidelines

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf, except where modified by these league rules.

  • Spirit of the Game: This league relies on the integrity of the individual. All players are expected to conduct themselves in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and sportsmanship at all times.

  • Integrity & Cheating: This league is built on the integrity of its players. All scores are to be entered honestly. The "One Submission Only" rule is final. Any player found to be in violation of the rules, including (but not limited to) taking unauthorized mulligans, falsifying scores in the Squabbit app, or intentionally misrepresenting their handicap, will be subject to disciplinary action. This may include a warning, disqualification from the week's event, or immediate removal from the tournament without a refund, at the sole discretion of League Management.

  • Handicapping: All handicaps are managed automatically by the Squabbit app, which uses a USGA-compliant calculation.

  • New Players: Players without an established league handicap (or official GHIN) will play their first round as a zero (0) handicap. After the first week's round is submitted, Squabbit will establish their initial handicap, which will then be adjusted automatically after each subsequent round.

  • Max Score: For handicap purposes, the maximum score on any hole is a Net Quadruple Bogie (Equitable Stroke Control), which is automatically applied by the software.

  • Attendance & Substitutions:

  • Flexibility: Players must complete their 18-hole round within the "league week" (Monday-Sunday).

  • Substitutes: Players are permitted to have a substitute play in their place. The sub's score will be eligible for weekly optional side games only (Skins). The score will NOT count toward the official member's tournament points total.

  • Missed Week: If a player does not play during the 8-week tournament, they will receive a score of Par + their full course handicap for the round and will be awarded 0.5 points for the week.

  • Simulator & Course Rules:

  • Mulligans: No mulligans are permitted during official league play. Taking a mulligan will result in disqualification from that week's event.

  • Gimmes / Conceded Putts: To maintain pace of play, putts will be conceded automatically inside 12 feet. This setting is automatic and will be used for all tournament rounds.

  • Technical Malfunctions: If the simulator fails to register a shot or a system crash occurs, please notify league management immediately. If it is a technical error, the player will re-hit the shot without penalty.

  • Communication:

  • The Squabbit app will be the central hub for all official league information, including weekly course announcements, rules updates, and live leaderboards.

  • A private Facebook Group will also be created for social interaction, scheduling assistance, and general league banter.

  • Rules Committee & Disputes: The owner and designated staff of Whoop Your Axe will serve as the official League Management and Rules Committee. All disputes, rule interpretations, or situations not explicitly covered in this handbook shall be brought to the attention of League Management. All decisions and rulings made by League Management are final and are not subject to appeal.
